Phil Wikoff
Originally from the frozen tundra of Minnesota, Phil Wikoff attended college at UNC-Chapel Hill where he took up cycling following a 13-year swimming career. He quickly moved through the ranks and, only 12 months after entering the sport, earned an invitation to the 2004 Olympic trials road race. In 2006 Phil moved to Austin, winning the Texas Bicycle Racing Association’s (TXBRA) best overall rider award that same year. Last year Phil finished second in the overall Texas Cup competition by a single point to his teammate, David Wenger.
Technical crits and long road races best suit Phil’s racing style, but he aims to add short time trials to his arsenal in 2009. The bulk of Phil’s weekday training occurs during his two-hour round trip bicycle commute to Rules Based Medicine, where he’s employed as a Senior Research Scientist.
