Steven Wheeler

A varsity runner and swimmer throughout high school, Steven Wheeler decided to try his first (and last) triathlon during his freshman year at the University of Texas–Austin. Using a bike borrowed from the father of current teammate Ian Dille, Steven slogged his way through the cycling leg. Realizing he needed to vastly improve, Steven purchased his first road bike the following week and was soon entirely hooked on cycling.

Although he finished dead last in his first collegiate race, a criterium run around UT’s Fine Arts building, Steven steadily improved. By his senior year he placed top-10 at collegiate nationals in Burlington, Vermont. In 2008 Steven won the Texas State Road Race Championships, and remains a perennial favorite in road races statewide.

Steven is a founding member of Super Squadra, and serves as the team’s Director of Development (he famously convinced the team to recruit Chad Haga). Off-seasons, in Steven’s words, are for watching football—primarily, in his garage, while pounding out intervals on a trainer. Steven is a Production Manager for Integrity Legal Support Solutions.
